ORGANICS BY HEATHER

Organics by Heather is a creative business whose products are handmade in St. Thomas, Ontario by Heather Yacula. From Organic Mini Facial Cloths to Organic Cotton Hand Towels, Heather designs, cuts and sews these thoughtfully made products herself.

SEWING AND SUSTAINABILITY: AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME

As a child growing up in Northern Ontario, Heather spent many hours with her mother learning how to sew at home as well as helping her out in her fabric store.  Along with learning how to create with fabric, Heather feels blessed to have spent many wonderful years growing up at her family cottage which fostered her love and respect for the outdoors, family and friends.

As time went on, she was blessed with her own family and welcomed two wonderful boys into the world. This of course, presented the opportunity to make many costumes and several other hand-made creations.

Heather and her family try to lead by example and make choices that have a low environmental impact. Ultimately, it made sense for her to combine the love for fabric with her love and respect of nature. This is how Organics by Heather was born.

WHY ORGANIC?

Conventional cotton is one of the most widely grown and chemical-intensive crops in the world. Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

By choosing organic cotton, you are supporting sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices which will benefit our earth for present and future generations.

IS THE LABEL ORGANIC?

The label is made from organic cotton. Non-toxic water-based ink is used in the printing of the labels which is performed in London, Ontario.

WHERE IS THE COTTON AND THREAD SOURCED FROM?

The organic cotton is sourced from organic farms in the United States of America.

The thread is sourced from Peru.

IS THE COTTON AND THREAD CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

Yes. The cotton is certified organic by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The mills that process the organic cotton into fiber and fabric adhere to the regulations set forth by presiding regulatory bodies of the USA. The thread is certified organic by Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

ARE THERE DYES USED IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

THE ORGANIC COTTON AND THREAD ARE DYE FREE

DO THE FABRICS USED TO MAKE THESE PRODUCTS MEET CANADIAN STANDARDS?

Absolutely! Organics by Heather proudly complies with Health Canada's Flammability requirements set out in Canada's Textile Flammability Regulations for general textile products. Heather also complies with Canada's requirements for Textile Labeling.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY PRODUCTS?

All products can be machine washed in water not exceeding (40°C), at normal setting. Tumble dry at low heat setting or air dry. If desired, iron at medium temperature. .

THE MINI FACIAL CLOTHS CURL AFTER I PUT THEM IN THE DRYER. CAN THIS BE CORRECTED?

The Mini Facial Cloth can be easily reshaped by gently pulling it with your fingers and flattening it with your palm. To prevent them from curling, lay them flat to dry or iron.

CARING FOR YOUR SOAP SLEEVE

You may remove the soap from the soap sleeve after each use and hang dry or simply hang your soap sleeve with the soap in it until next use.
